A rain garden is a constructed low area in your yard that is specially designed to capture rainwater. Your rain gutters and/or sump pump discharge are directed into the rain garden, where the water is used by the plants, soaks into the ground or evaporates instead of running into the street and storm sewer system.
Rain gardens make efficient use of rainwater and reduce the amount of water entering our storm sewer system.
Rain gardens are planted with beautiful, low-maintenance flowers and plants that contribute greatly to the aesthetic character of your house and yard.
Rain gardens are the next "big" thing in landscaping and you can be one of the first in our area to have one!

Eastpoint has extensive experience designing rain gardens and other stormwater management devices. For example, Eastpoint has provided design guidance on the soon-to-be-constructed demonstration rain garden that will be located at the Manitowoc Visitor Information Center (VIC). Eastpoint can offer services ranging from an initial consultation and sizing of your rain garden all the way through construction and initial maintenance. Services provided include:
Consultation and Sizing - Eastpoint will visit your site and will work with you to determine the best place for your rain garden. Eastpoint will then use a computer model to size your rain garden based on your preferences, the amount of water running into the garden, and the soils in your yard.
You will receive a written report from Eastpoint that will indicate the optimal size for your garden. Simple instructions and illustrations will allow you to construct your rain garden and select plants for it.
Garden Footprint Marking - If you don't want to convert the square footage into a real shape on your lawn, Eastpoint would be glad to return to your house and mark out the footprint. Of course we will work with you to create a pond footprint with a unique shape, which will contribute greatly to your garden's visual appeal.

Personalized Rain Garden Planting Plan - Eastpoint will create a planting plan for your rain garden based on your personal preferences and the characteristics of your yard (shady or sunny, soil type, etc.). The plan will indicate the type and number of plants needed along with a diagram showing where to plant them within the footprint.
Rain Garden Construction - Eastpoint or an agent will construct your rain garden based on the sizing calculations and planting plan. The result will be a complete functioning rain garden that will be the envy of your neighborhood!

Eastpoint is glad to work with you in whatever way you are most comfortable. If you are a do-it-yourselfer and enjoy gardening, maybe all you need is a pond size and away you will go! Maybe you will want a planting diagram but will want to shape the pond and do the planting yourself. It is up to you! We are here to help.
These fees are based on rain gardens located within 10 miles of Manitowoc. Contact Eastpoint for fees beyond that radius. Surcharges may be added for unusually large ponds or for other unique circumstances.
